Belarusian "promised family prosperity" and enlisted for war. Disappeared without a trace in a 'meat assault' — and his wife cries that there's nothing to eat
Tatiana Varabyova, a resident of Mazyr, leaves dozens of messages daily in Russian Telegram chats. The woman is looking for her missing husband and begs for help with formula and diapers for their son, who is only one year old. She complains that she cannot receive payments from the Russian state for her child.

Since New Year's, Tatiana has been desperately trying to find her husband, Gennady Varabyov (call sign "Bison"). The Mazyr resident, who signed a contract with the Russian army and ended up in military unit 11741, stopped making contact on December 24, 2025. As of January 5, 2026, he is officially considered missing in action. The woman regularly checks photos of prisoners and the deceased and knocks on hospital doors, where she can't even get through by phone.
Gennady Varabyov was 42 years old. According to Belpol, he was repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for drinking alcohol. He worked odd jobs but was unemployed for most of his life. In 2015, he divorced for the first time.
Tatiana is a slightly different kind of person. She is 44 years old. She says she graduated from school with a gold medal. She has an adult son. Later, she received a medical education and worked as a paramedic on an ambulance. But after being involved in an accident, she was forced to leave.
Gennady and Tatiana got married a couple of years ago, and they had a child. Money was critically short — Gennady's odd jobs didn't provide enough. Debts accumulated, relationships deteriorated, and husband and wife moved apart. To solve financial problems, Gennady went to war in the second half of 2025 and, as the woman writes, "promised the family financial well-being."

Before his disappearance, Gennady asked for his child's details to arrange Russian assistance amounting to 18,000 rubles (about 200 euros). To receive this money, Tatiana went through all the circles of Russian bureaucracy: she obtained a SNILS, registered on "Gosuslugi" (Public Services portal), bought a Russian SIM card, and opened a bank account. But the result was zero, as no payments are given for a child without temporary registration in Russia.
Instead of "combat" money, the woman found herself in a deep debt hole, linked, according to her, to being deceived by "close people." Her bank cards are under arrest, which forces her to use her brother's card. She recently pawned her phone to find some money for food. The family lives in rented accommodation in Mazyr, and due to utility debts, they face the threat of eviction.
Tatiana writes that she is now rapidly losing her sight. Her right eye sees only 0.01%, her left eye 40%, and she needs surgery to replace her lenses. Despite almost complete vision loss, she claims that she is not given disability status in Belarus because she can still move independently, and she is not hired for work without medical clearance. Added to this are serious heart complications and debts incurred, as she says, for previous treatment.
Today, the resident of Mazyr spends whole days begging in Russian charitable Telegram groups for money for baby formula and diapers.
And Gennady was never found — it seems he perished in one of the 'meat assaults' near the village of Yampol in the Donetsk region, where thousands of Russian occupiers remain forever.
