In Russia, a Russian citizen was fined for threatening a Belarusian security officer via SMS
Events related to the 2020 protests.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus announced the completion of the case against a Russian citizen who threatened a serviceman of the internal troops of Belarus via SMS. The events are related to the 2020 protests.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus states that the defendant, while in the Smolensk region, sent SMS messages to a Belarusian serviceman "with a threat of violence" for his alleged participation in "suppressing mass riots by a group of radically-minded citizens against the authorities of the Republic."
The identity and location of the suspect were established by Russian investigators at the request of the Belarusian prosecutor's office. However, the extradition of a Russian citizen to Belarus is impossible.
Therefore, the Prosecutor General's Office took a different approach. Based on the CIS Member States Convention on Legal Assistance, it transferred further criminal prosecution to the competent authorities of the Russian Federation, the agency reported.
As a result, the Russian citizen was brought to court, where he was found guilty of threatening to use violence against a representative of authority in connection with the performance of his official duties.
The Russian citizen received a fine of 50 thousand Russian rubles — approximately 628 US dollars. He must also pay the security officer 100 thousand rubles, i.e., 1256 US dollars, as compensation for moral damages.
