15 years ago the second "Ploshcha" took place — people protested against the falsification of the 2010 elections
15 years ago, on December 19, 2010, multi-thousand protests of those disagreeing with the announced results of the presidential elections took place in Minsk.

According to the official results, Alexander Lukashenka garnered 79.67%. Andrei Sannikov was credited with 2.43 percent and placed second.
Tens of thousands of people marched along the avenue from Kastrychnitskaya Square to Independence Square. The protest ended with unprecedented repressions — hundreds of people were beaten by riot police and detained.
Six presidential candidates were detained — Dzmitry Vus, Ales Mikhalevich, Uladzimir Nyaklyayew, Vital Rymasheuski, Andrei Sannikov and Mikalai Statkevich, as well as 630 other people. Uladzimir Nyaklyayew was brutally beaten on the approach to Kastrychnitskaya Square.
Later, Vus, Nyaklyayew, Sannikov, Statkevich, and 45 participants of the action were sentenced under criminal articles.
The first "Ploshcha" took place in March 2006, when people protested against the results of the presidential elections at that time, and when a tent city emerged on Kastrychnitskaya Square, which lasted five days and was brutally dispersed.
