What are Christmas and New Year without mandarins? Their orange color itself symbolizes the holidays.

Mandarins contain a lot of glucose, which stimulates insulin production. If a person eats too much fruit at one sitting, the produced insulin disrupts fat breakdown, causing weight gain.
However, if these fruits are eaten in moderation, they bring only benefits.
The daily norm is 5-6 medium-sized mandarins.
But if you eat more all at once on New Year's Eve, nothing bad will happen.
At the same time, doctors say that acidic fruits are not recommended for people with digestive system diseases: gastritis, colitis, peptic ulcer disease, as well as problems with the pancreas and gallbladder.
And, like any other citrus, mandarins can cause allergies. Therefore, it's best not to give too many to children under three years old, and not to give them at all to children under one year old.
How to properly store mandarins
Usually, we take as many mandarins as we can eat in a couple of evenings. But if during the holidays you develop a mandarin addiction and start buying citrus fruits on an industrial scale, it's important to remember simple storage rules. It turns out that simply taking them out of the bag and putting them in a box is not enough.
You need to rub the peel with oil and place the fruit in a special compartment of the refrigerator, keeping it at +6 degrees Celsius.
The humidity level is very important; you must not let them dry out. Be sure to remove the plastic bag from the mandarins and place them in a net. If there are leaves on the branches, do not tear them off, as the fruit will keep longer this way.
It is also important not to forget that before transportation, all citrus fruits undergo mandatory treatment with sulfur compounds. Therefore, before eating, fruit from the store should be washed with warm water and soap.
