United States President Donald Trump did not rule out a possible military campaign against Venezuela in the future, NBC News reports.
“I don't rule that out, no,” Trump said on NBC News.
The President also announced strengthened measures against oil tankers off the coast of Venezuela, specifically their blockade. “It all depends on them (the Venezuelan government). If they continue their routes, they sail to one of our ports,” the U.S. President added.
NBC News notes that Trump refused to answer whether the overthrow of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is the ultimate goal of his policy in this direction.
“He knows exactly what I want,” the U.S. President replied.
Donald Trump stated on December 16 that he is ordering a full blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers heading to or departing from Venezuelan waters. According to him, this will last until Venezuela returns to the U.S. “all the oil, land, and other assets they previously stole from us.”
The U.S. President also stated that the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been declared a “foreign terrorist organization.”
