"I am a pensioner. I lived with a man for 23 years, who has now died. We were not officially married. Do I have a right to inheritance after his death if no will was drawn up?" — asked Valentina, a resident of Rechytsa, to the local publication "Dnyaprovets".
"According to the law, inheritors include citizens who were incapacitated at the time of the inheritance opening, and who had been dependent on the deceased for at least one year and lived with them. Thus, if the above conditions are met, you will have the right to inherit after his death,"
— explained lawyer Antonina Muzychenko from the legal consultation office of Rechytsa district.
So, the pensioner, who lived with the man for more than a year, has the same rights as his first-degree relatives — children, brothers, sisters, and official wife.
