Secret weapon. Ukrainian robot machine gunner held off Russia for six weeks
For 45 days, Russian troops were held back on the front line by a remotely operated weapon no larger than a lawnmower.

On one section of the front, the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used a secret weapon to repel enemy attacks — a ground robot no larger than a lawnmower. It is the DevDroid TW 12.7 complex, equipped with an M2 Browning machine gun, reports The Telegraph.
In eastern Ukraine, Russian units were unable to break through a section of the front for 45 days, which, as it later turned out, was defended by only one remotely controlled robot. This machine proved so effective that the enemy did not even suspect the absence of live soldiers at the position.
Technical capabilities
The DevDroid TW 12.7 robot is equipped with a heavy M2 Browning machine gun of 12.7 mm caliber. The operator of the complex can be at a safe distance — up to 25 kilometers, controlling the machine via a tablet.

Thanks to built-in artificial intelligence, the robot is capable of independently plotting a route over difficult terrain, and the ballistic calculator ensures high firing accuracy.
Commander of the NC-13 robot strike company of the Third Army Corps, Mykola "Makar" Zinkevych, said that the machine effectively replaced a unit of 3-6 servicemen.
The technology played a particularly important role during bad weather — in fog, rain, and snow. When conventional aerial drones could not conduct reconnaissance, Russian groups tried to use low visibility to break through, but each time they came under dense and accurate fire from the ground robot.
All this time, Russian intelligence could not determine that a machine was fighting against them. No radio intercepts were recorded, and the robot itself was never hit.
Every two days, operators briefly withdrew the drone from its position for maintenance, which was carried out four kilometers from the front line. Within four hours, the team managed to clean the weapon, replenish ammunition, and charge the batteries.

This case is called a new page in the history of technological warfare. The Ukrainian command emphasizes: the main advantage of such systems is the ability to hold dangerous positions with zero casualties among personnel. While the robot held the defense, the soldiers remained in safe shelters.

Recently, other versions of the drone were approved for frontline use, including two machines equipped with grenade launchers.
"The demand for these systems is high," said Mykola "Makar" Zinkevych. "Robots don't bleed."
