A scientific book on the history of the BNR banned in Belarus

The Ministry of Information has added another 52 books to the list of those banned in Belarus. Among them is the book by Polish historian Dorota Michaluk, "Belarusian National Republic 1918-1920: At the Origins of Belarusian Statehood."

Dorota Michaluk's book "Belarusian National Republic 1918-1920: At the Origins of Belarusian Statehood"

The decision to ban the books was made by the republican commission for assessing symbolism, attributes, and information products.

"All these publications are capable of harming the national interests of our country," states the Ministry of Information.

Dorota Michaluk's book on the BNR is a purely scientific publication. Its author was born, lives, and works in Poland, although she hails from Belarusians of Podlachia. Her monograph was published in Polish by Toruń University Press in 2010, and in Belarusian translation – in 2015. This year, the second edition of the Belarusian-language version of this book was released in Białystok.

In addition to Michaluk's book, this time the list includes three novels by Russian writer Vladimir Sorokin, several novels by William Burroughs, and the "pilotage" cycle by Bayan Shiranov.
