"It would be a pity if it dies." Near Mogilev, attempts have been made for several weeks to rescue a stork that stayed for winter
The warm autumn confused some migratory birds — they did not fly south, hoping for warm weather. But the sharp cold snap caught them by surprise, writes "Mogilev. Online".

This also happened with a stork, which has been living for several weeks in Buinichi, Mogilev district. Instead of warm countries, it warms itself near a chimney on the roof of the local "Evroopt" supermarket. The bird looks healthy, but having separated from the flock, it is forced to survive independently in the snow and frost.

As Maxim Gunaev, the security guard of the mechdvor (machine yard) next to the store, recounted, they repeatedly tried to catch the stork. Zoo workers came with nets, volunteer animal defenders came — but to no avail. The bird takes off, makes a circle, and lands on the roof again. It comes down for a short time when food is brought to it, and sometimes food is even thrown up.

According to the security guard, there are no signs of injuries or diseases in the stork: it flies well and does not limp. Local residents feed it with fish, chicken, and even pork, but the bird does not let people get close.
A store saleswoman notes that the stork is very cautious and does not make contact with humans. It stays between the chimneys on the roof, where it's warmer, and people help it however they can. Everyone just feels it would be a pity if the bird were to die.

The stork has already been reported to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and environmental protection services. The Mogilev zoo is ready to take it for the winter, but each time the bird escapes from the rescuers.
Even at night, the stork remains on the roof and does not fly away, despite severe frosts. Residents hope that before the true cold sets in, a way will be found to rescue the bird so that it does not die from the frost.
