Young Lynx Caught in Trap in Babruysk District, Then Had to Undergo Surgery
A hunt in the hunting grounds of Babruysk district on Sunday ended with an unexpected result. A lynx was caught in a rope trap set for martens, writes komkur.info.

As reported by Anatol Hryb, head of the Babruysk City and District Inspectorate for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, it all happened during the day in the area of Maleva village.
— A young lynx was caught in the trap. Eight months old. A female.

The hunter reported the incident to the Babruysk Interdistrict Inspectorate for the Protection of Flora and Fauna. Such a procedure is stipulated by the rules for hunting wild animals. Representatives of the inspection and specialists in wild fauna went to the scene. In their presence, the animal was freed from the trap, placed in a cage, and delivered to a veterinary clinic to Bobruisk's "Aibolit" – Ryhor Bieliahou.
Veterinary assistance was indeed needed. The lynx cub was diagnosed with a fracture of its right front paw – a consequence of being caught in the trap. On Monday, the 10-kilogram animal underwent surgery.

— The operation was successful, and the animal will spend two to three days under observation, — reported Ryhor.

As Anatol Hryb noted, after the veterinary observation is complete, the "feline" will be placed in the zoo of the urban-type settlement Aktsyabrski, Homiel region.

Releasing the animal into its natural environment, according to the interlocutor, would endanger the lives of both the animal and people:
— The lynx will get used to humans and will enter populated areas without fear.
Ecologists also considered the option of placing the animal in the Mahilioŭ Zoo, but there, as Anatol Hryb reported, they were not ready to accept the wild inhabitant of the Babruysk forests.
