A resident of the Yurovichi Men's Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos, Hieromonk Seraphim (Ananka) died on January 11, the website of the Belarusian Orthodox Church reports.
Hieromonk Seraphim (Dmitry Ananka in the world) was born on August 3, 1988, in Dresden (GDR) into a military family.
From early childhood, he served in the church. He graduated from school in Slonim. After completing his conscript military service in 2009, he entered Grodno State Agrarian University.
In October 2014, he was accepted as a novice into the brotherhood of Yurovichi Monastery.
Initially, he took tonsure with the name Vasil in honor of Saint Basil the Great, becoming a hierodeacon. In May 2015, he was appointed bursar of Yurovichi Monastery.
On December 17, 2015, in the Mozyr Cathedral, Hierodeacon Vasil took monastic tonsure, receiving the name Seraphim in honor of the Orthodox Venerable Seraphim of Sarov. On January 6, 2016, Father Seraphim was ordained hieromonk.
