The Days of the Russian Museum will take place in the Belarusian capital in April. This was announced on ONT by Iryna Matsias, director of the National Art Museum.

Iryna noted that Belarusian museums do not have as many world-famous masterpieces in their collections as Russian or European ones. At the same time, an agreement on cooperation has been signed between the National Art Museum and the Russian Museum.
According to the museum director, Marc Chagall's painting "The Walk" is planned to be brought to Minsk as part of the Days of the Russian Museum. Presenting a broader exhibition of the artist's works in Belarus is difficult, although such a project would look very attractive. The main obstacle is the extremely high cost of insuring the works.
The painting "The Walk over Vitebsk" is considered one of the most famous in Marc Chagall's oeuvre. It was painted in 1917–1918 and has a distinctly autobiographical character. The artist created it after his marriage to his wife Bella and the birth of their daughter Ida: in the canvas, he stands on the ground while his wife appears to fly in the air.
"The Walk" is part of a triptych along with the paintings "Double Portrait" and "Over the Town". In 1973, Marc Chagall visited the Soviet Union and specifically went to the Tretyakov Gallery to see this work, which was exhibited there at the time.
