"Krzysztof brought a huge bouquet of meter-long roses, we exchanged gifts. We started getting ready for the opera, put on our tuxedos. Suddenly Krzysztof took my hand, pulled out a ring…"

Belarusian journalist Siarhei Padsasonny, who has long lived in Warsaw, met his love seven years ago. He met Pole Krzysztof Żebrowski on a dating site. The men started dating and soon realized they wanted to be together.
Siarhei Padsasonny was born in 1981. He studied at a rural school in the Buda-Kašaliova district. He graduated from the Philological Faculty of Gomel State University, completed postgraduate studies at the same faculty, and also the Psychological Faculty of GSU. He worked as a teacher of Russian, Belarusian language, and literature. From 2004 to 2007, he was a lecturer in Russian philology at Gomel Pedagogical University. From 2007 to 2025, he worked at Belsat. A researcher of Fyodor Dostoevsky's works.
Three years ago, the couple built a shared home. Siarhei says that during this time, there were many joys and many problems overcome.
By the way, together they worked on a book by Ivonka Survilla. The original was written in French, and Krzysztof can translate from it. He also learned Belarusian, so he helped Siarhei make a correct translation.
Yesterday marked the seventh anniversary of Siarhei and Krzysztof's acquaintance — they planned to celebrate their personal date at the Warsaw Opera.
— I was working from home that day, Krzysztof came back from work and brought a huge bouquet of meter-long roses, we exchanged gifts. We started getting ready for the opera, put on our tuxedos. Suddenly Krzysztof took my hand, pulled out a ring… At first, I was stunned and didn't understand what was happening. And he said he wanted to give me this ring and asked if I would agree.

Siarhei admits that the marriage proposal came as a surprise to him. Especially since the ring he received from his beloved has its own history.
— With this ring, Krzysztof's mother married his father more than 50 years ago. It is a family heirloom. They have five children in their family, so there was a question of who among them would receive this ring. This is, of course, a very great value. The culmination of 7 years of relationship.
Siarhei jokes that he is marrying a Polish nobleman. Because Krzysztof belongs to a noble family that existed even during the times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The family even has its own coat of arms.

Krzysztof's parents
— Poland is quite a conservative country. How did your chosen one's parents react to your relationship?
— It's a question of self-acceptance. For both Krzysztof and me, it was important to go through this path. When you tell your family about your choice, they either accept you or reject you. I wouldn't say it was an easy path — there were certain conversations. But with time, everything fell into place. People understand that happiness has no gender, no nationality, no skin color — it's simply happiness. If your child is happy with another person, then that's the most important thing.
Siarhei believes that politicians in Poland are more conservative, but people themselves are ready to accept same-sex relationships, as they understand that this exists in society.
— If politicians start saying that we are destroying their families, let them answer the question: «How?». But we won't hear such an answer, because no one interferes with their families, no one prevents their children from living and being happy.
It is not officially possible to register a same-sex marriage in Poland. But Siarhei and Krzysztof are thinking about getting married in another EU country and then trying to achieve recognition of the marriage in Poland through court.
Siarhei concludes the conversation by saying that he understands how many haters will gather in the comments under this article on Nasha Niva.
— Let the haters remember that I wish them happiness. If these people are happy, they won't have bitterness for others. If you are happy, you don't have time to seek revenge, to hurt someone. So once again: happiness to the haters.
