Over a period of five years – from 2026 to 2030 – it is planned to install no less than 5,000 artificial nests for birds and mammals belonging to rare species listed in the country's Red Book. This is stipulated by the National Action Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity.

The corresponding document was approved by Resolution No. 60 of the Council of Ministers dated February 4, 2026, and published on the National Legal Portal. The plan is aimed at nature protection and the restoration of ecological systems.
In addition to installing artificial nests, it is planned to create a special internet resource in 2026-2030, dedicated to specially protected natural areas, habitats of rare animals and growth sites of rare plants, as well as typical and unique natural landscapes.
The development of a National Strategy for combating invasive species of animals and plants that threaten biodiversity and natural ecosystems, as well as plans for its implementation, is also envisaged.
Within the plan, ecological rehabilitation of disturbed peatlands covering an area of no less than 12 thousand hectares is planned. Special attention will be paid to the restoration and preservation of meadows and wetlands – the most important habitats for rare and endangered species of animals and plants. The total area of such territories should be no less than 3 thousand hectares.
