Belarusian showed a young generation of mushrooms growing in the forest in February
Despite severe frosts and snowfalls, some mushroom enthusiasts cannot stay at home and are already venturing into the forest. One of the activists of the "Mushroom Troops of Belarus" group on "VKontakte" showed that even in February, during a brief thaw, new mushrooms are sprouting in the forest, writes Telegraf.news.

The mushroom picker walked through meter-high snowdrifts, but his stroll was successful: life continues under the bark of trees and on trees, and even at sub-zero temperatures, some mushroom species continue to grow.

The man found winter enoki mushrooms (Flammulina velutipes), oyster mushrooms capable of freezing and then resuming growth, as well as the delicate Tremella mesenterica — an orange "jelly fungus" sought after by gourmets.

Among the mushrooms found were both "older" specimens from last year and a young generation. According to the video's author, if the weather is favorable, the new mushrooms will need a few more weeks to grow enough to be picked.

The mushroom picker predicts that large "bouquets" of mushrooms may appear by the end of February, but meteorologists warn of a prolonged period of abnormally cold weather that could last until the end of the month and into early March. Therefore, it is too early for Belarusians to expect a mass mushroom harvest.
