Ryzhankou Went to a Literary Evening in Minsk Instead of a Trip to Washington
In Minsk, on February 19, 2026, a literary evening was held, dedicated to the International Mother Language Day and the Year of the Belarusian Woman. Among others, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Maksim Ryzhankou, who was previously expected to participate in the first meeting of the Trump-era Peace Council in Washington, was present at it.

Ryzhankou delivered a welcoming speech at the event. He noted that International Mother Language Day reminds us of the uniqueness and value of every language, its role in preserving cultural heritage and shaping national identity. Ryzhankou described the Belarusian language as soft and melodious, embodying the nation's inner strength and dignity.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the significance of the Year of the Woman in Belarus, which recognizes the exceptional role of Belarusian women in the life of society and the state, their contribution to preserving traditions and raising future generations.
Also, as part of the literary program of the evening, diplomatic representatives from India, China, Kyrgyzstan, UAE, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Great Britain, Israel, and Syria, as well as representatives of international organizations, recited works by famous Belarusian authors dedicated to women, mothers, and the Motherland.
