President of Lithuania on Political Prisoner Trade: "It's a Closed and Very Vicious Circle"
President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda stated that he "tried to convince" U.S. President's Special Representative for Belarus, John Koulo, that "one must be very careful when talking to the Belarusian dictator."

Lukashenka's real actions, Nausėda believes, show that he "is not moving an inch closer to the West."
U.S. efforts to release Belarusian political prisoners "deserve praise," however, Lukashenka "uses this issue for his own purposes":
"Seeing that it is profitable for him to trade the release of political prisoners and expect benefits in other areas, he, on the contrary, gains a motive to imprison even more people, so that in the future he has this leverage to gain even greater benefit. This, I would say, is a closed and very vicious circle," Lithuanian Public Television quotes Nausėda.
