In Belarus, according to surveys by the National Statistical Committee, there is a continued gradual decrease in tobacco consumption. In 2025, 21.2% of adult Belarusians reported that they smoke. This is half a percentage point less than the previous year, and almost 3 percentage points less than the figure a decade ago.

At the same time, smoking is most prevalent in rural areas — 23.5% of the adult population. Among regions, smoking is most widespread in Mogilev region — 24.3%, the lowest figure is in Grodno region (18.6%). In the city of Minsk, 20.6% of adults smoke.

In the age group of 16-19 years, 3% of respondents admitted to smoking tobacco — the same as in the previous year. Over a ten-year period, there has been a radical collapse of this indicator — in 2016, 12% of youth still consumed tobacco. The breakthrough year was the following year, 2017, when the figure halved — after which a gradual decrease continued, reaching a plateau in recent years.
