The rallies were attempted to be promoted on social networks the day before, but due to the intimidation of society, mass protests did not happen.

Protests against internet blockades were planned for today in Russia. The number of participants is unknown. In Moscow and other Russian cities, 16 people were detained, writes "Agenstvo". Some were later released.
Russian authorities did not allow a single protest against internet restrictions. And on the day of the banned protests, police cordons were set up in Moscow at Bolotnaya Square, in St. Petersburg at Lenin Square, and in the center of Yekaterinburg near 1905 Square and near Labor Square. In Murmansk, residents faced internet restrictions, and police vans and "Russian Community" patrols were spotted in the city center.
Videos that were published show dozens of people, many of them young, walking in Bolotnaya Square in Moscow, but it's impossible to tell who among them are protestors.
At least 12 people were detained in the area of the square, "OVD-Info" reported. The first to be detained for filming participants of the unauthorized rally was 72-year-old human rights activist and former Soviet dissident Alexander Podrabinek (he was released from the police a few hours later). One of those detained came to the square with a "No to War" poster.
Several people were detained in other cities.
In the days leading up to the actions, law enforcement detained 10 activists.
The last time 12 people were detained at a protest in Moscow (then relatives of mobilized individuals were protesting) was in September 2024.
Russian political strategist Dmitry Kisiev, who initially announced rallies against blockades for March 29, reported plans to submit applications for new actions on April 12.
