Russia’s PM wants the ruble to become the currency of the Customs Union.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev called his colleagues, the prime ministers of the Customs Union member states Mikhail Miasnikovich (Belarus) and Karim Masimov (Kazakhstan) to consider the introduction of the Russian ruble as the single currency within the Customs Union.
However, yesterday’s reaction of Aliaksandr Lukashenka to the Russia’s ambassador’s advices on introducing the Russian ruble as Belarus’ home currency was very acute. Lukashenka said that it wouldn’t be a catastrophe if the Russian ruble is not introduced in Belarus.
