Largest State Newspaper Accused Swedish Ambassador of Speaking Belarusian

“Sweden is suspiciously active in Belarus.”

Sovietskaya Bielorussiya, the newspaper of the Presidential Administration and largest state-owned newspapers published an article called Bright Patch on Ragged Plush Curtain devoted to the 4 July’s ‘bear bombing’ when two Swedes illegally crossed Belarusian border on a light plane and dropped ca. 1,000 plush teddy bears over Belarus.

“Sweden is at first sight suspiciously active in Belarus. Swedish ambassador Mr. Ericsson who knows Belarusian and actively speaks it is a very interesting person. Only this fact is the evidence of the heightened interest of Sweden towards Belarus,” writes the newspaper.
