Lukashenka Tells Students About 25 Imprisoned Presidential Candidates Who Dared to Debate with Obama
“Let them go to America and have a look at their elections,” Aliaksandr Lukashenka advised those who criticise him during the meeting with the students of Belarusian State Economic University on November 12.
“It seems to me, around 50mln people couldn’t vote, they were not including into the voting lists,” Lukashenka mentioned.
“There were 23 or 25 [presidential] candidates. You heard about Obama and Romney only, and the rest 25 were imprisoned for the attempt to debate with these giants,” Lukashenka added.
It is widely known that to vote in the USA, one should register as a voter. The registration is very simple. However, in Belarus a person gets into voting lists automatically.
No American media know about imprisoned candidates. There were five presidential candidates in the ballots, but Americans traditionally choose between a representatives of the Republican or Democratic Party.
“But here, they [elections observations missions] come with their rules, interfere our affairs and teach us,” he said. “Please, don’t. We’ll organise elections ourselves.”
In 2010, 8 out of 10 presidential candidates in Belarus got in jails or under investigation. Two of them told they were tortured. This was the unique case in Belarusian history as all alternative candidates were imprisoned.
