After the children's father was sent to a medical-labor prophylactorium, their mother began to drink. The woman was not working, and the family's monthly income was about 300 rubles. This amount was not enough to support five children, reports the General Prosecutor's Office.
During a regular visit to the family, prosecutor's office employees found that the woman had not stopped consuming alcohol and had not fulfilled the prescribed requirements to eliminate the identified problems. She had not applied for material assistance to the social services center. In addition, the woman had not visited a narcologist and had not paid for housing and utility services.
"Due to alcohol consumption, the mother had a conflict with her children, as a result of which she committed parasuicide (either a demonstrative suicide attempt without the intention to die, or intentional self-harm without the intention to die) in their presence. As a result, by order of the Mogilev district prosecutor, the commission for juvenile affairs decided to recognize the five children as in need of state protection, to remove them from the family, and to place them under state care. A complex of measures is being carried out to restore child-parent relations," the prosecutor's office reports.
