Culprit in the death of two children in an accident near Voranava sentenced to 8 years
The Voranava District Court sentenced the culprit in the fatal accident to 8 years in prison, the General Prosecutor's Office reports. The accident occurred on May 29, 2025, and resulted in the death of two children.

In addition, the man was fined 2,700 rubles and deprived of the right to engage in driving-related activities for eight years.
A 55-year-old resident of Babruysk was driving a truck-trailer at night while intoxicated. Exceeding the speed limit on a road curve, he veered into the oncoming lane and collided with an Audi car, in which a husband and wife were traveling with three young children. As a result, two children died, one sustained serious injuries, and the parents suffered less severe injuries.
After the accident, the driver did not render aid to the victims and fled the scene. He was found four hours later in a ravine three kilometers from the accident site; a medical examination showed over 1 per mille of alcohol in his blood. Empty cognac bottles were found in the truck's cabin.
The man had previously been held criminally liable for an accident with severe consequences and administratively liable for speeding, accidents, and leaving the scene of an accident. Initially, he was charged under the article for the death of one person, but later the charges were reclassified due to the death of the second child.
The court awarded 325,000 rubles in moral damages to the victims. The verdict has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
