18-year-old Belarusian footballer moved to the leader of the Polish championship
Matvei Bakhno will play for Wisła Płock.
Matvei Bakhno, the son of Valery Bakhno, former head coach of Granit Mikashevichi, has been living with his parents in Poland since he was 11. He trained at the Delta academy in Warsaw, after which he moved to the structure of Lech Poznań, writes football.by.
Until recently, Bakhno played for Lech II, which competes in the fourth division, but he hasn't played any matches there this season, instead featuring for the U-19 team in the youth championship. However, he did play for Lech II in the 2024/25 season and also trained with the main team of the Poznań club.
Now, the 18-year-old central defender, standing 192 cm tall, is a player for Wisła Płock, which leads the strongest Polish division after 18 rounds. Last year, the club played in the first league and advanced through playoffs.
Matvei also holds Polish citizenship.
Bakhno played for the Belarusian youth (U-17) and junior (U-19) national teams, and also made two appearances for the U-21 national team.
The contract with the Belarusian footballer is valid until the summer of 2028.
Another Belarusian defender, Hleb Kuchko, who has experience playing for the Belarusian national team, also plays for Wisła. However, he started this season on loan at Miedź Legnica (first league).
Two Belarusians are playing in the Polish Ekstraklasa this season: Illia Shkuryn for GKS Katowice and Hleb Barkouski for Piast.
