Belarusian writers to hold dictations on International Mother Language Day
Saturday, February 21, marks International Mother Language Day. Here are events with the participation of Belarusian writers and literati.

Maksim Znak will read a dictation at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk

Lavon Volski will hold a National Dictation for Mother Language Day tomorrow, February 21, on the air of "Belsat".
The dictation will take place after the "Morning with Belsat" broadcast and live news. The writer and rock musician will dictate the text during a special studio broadcast. In the live broadcast, presenters and guests of "Morning" will also write the dictation.
On Sunday, February 22, live during the broadcast, there will be a symbolic light analysis of mistakes and an awarding of the best participants. Blanks for participation can be downloaded here.
On Saturday in Białystok, a Belarusian dictation for Mother Language Day will take place. It starts at 16:30 at the Belarusian Hub "Novaya Ziamlya". The dictation will be based on Uladzimir Arlou's essay "Independence is...", which has been translated into more than twenty-five languages. The author himself will dictate.

In Wrocław, the meeting "Languages anew" for Mother Language Day will take place. This year, the dictation will be conducted by Andrei Khadanovich, a poet, translator, literary critic, and lecturer. Mead is also a Belarusian tradition! Therefore, the celebration will continue in a tasting format.
You can expect some history and a tasting of mead with Uladzimir Shymbarevich — an expert on the topic and, most importantly, a practitioner who has created over 50 varieties of the drink. Guests are asked to bring their own glasses for this occasion.
"It will be sweet, intellectual, cozy, and Belarusian," the organizers assure.

On February 21 at the Skaryna Library in London, Mother Language Day will be celebrated with writer Alhierd Bacharevič and poet Yulia Tsimafeeva. Admission is free, donations to the Anglo-Belarusian Society are welcome.
At the Ivan Lutskievich Museum in Vilnius, meetings with writers and a program for children as part of a special festival

On Saturday, February 21, in Vilnius at the House of National Communities (Raugyklos, 25 (2nd floor) from 17:00, Mother Language Day will also be celebrated.
