US discusses possibility of sending special forces to Iran to seize control of enriched uranium
According to Axios, citing sources, the US and Israel discussed the possibility of sending special forces units to Iran to seize control and secure stockpiles of highly enriched uranium.

It is believed that such an operation could occur at a later stage of the war — after both countries are convinced that the Iranian military no longer poses a serious threat.
After US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, uranium stockpiles were buried under rubble. American and Israeli officials claim that Iran itself has been unable to access them since then. According to their data, the main part of the nuclear fuel is located in underground tunnels at one of the facilities in Isfahan, while the remaining stockpiles are housed in bunkers in Fordo and Natanz.
However, as The New York Times writes, citing sources familiar with intelligence information, Iran may still be able to access enriched uranium stockpiles in Isfahan through a narrow tunnel.
In addition, according to Axios, the United States also discussed the possibility of seizing the strategically important Iranian island of Kharg, through which about 90 percent of the country's crude oil exports pass.
