Belarusians rushed to defend the honor of Minsk National Airport in Threads.
Russian woman Katerina flew to Georgia via Belarus. The girl had a layover at Minsk airport — she had to spend 6 hours there. What she saw did not please her.
Katerina wrote in Threads that she caught a Soviet Union vibe, although she had never lived in it. She also did not rate the food highly: there were no draniki (potato pancakes), and she had to pay 30 rubles for a pancake with chicken and mushrooms and coffee.
If the Russian woman were a Michelin inspector, the Minsk airport cafe would certainly not have received a star. Katerina did not hold back in her expressions, detailing her impressions of the drink: "It's like someone shat in my cup and then put out cigarette butts in it."
She said she didn't finish the coffee. She also didn't like the number of power outlets — Katerina believes there aren't enough of them. But otherwise, "everything is not so bad."
Belarusians, however, were very indignant and rushed to defend Minsk National Airport: "Where is the 'sovok' (Soviet mentality/mess) in these photos? We have a clean, beautiful airport; you won't see one like it in every country today. We've been to your country — a terrible mess, starting from the airport and ending with everything else. Wherever you go, there's deceit everywhere, from taxis to restaurants. So, goodbye for now. Drink your coffee at home!"
But there were also those who supported the Russian woman: "And what is she wrong about? The coffee at the airport is terrible, the airport itself is a total 'sovok' (Soviet mess), you can't even go into the restroom — it's simply awful. Every time you go there, you feel ashamed of our airport. There really aren't any power outlets; anyone who frequently visits the airport sees all this themselves."
Many asked Katerina to tell her compatriots how bad everything is in Belarus so they wouldn't come here.
