Over the past five years, Belarusians have significantly reduced their tuberculosis incidence
Over the past five years, the incidence of tuberculosis in Belarus has decreased by 19%. This was reported by Alena Krotkava, Director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pulmonology and Phthisiology, and Chief Freelance Phthisiologist of the Ministry of Health of Belarus.

Alena Krotkava noted that Belarus has established a precise system for early detection of tuberculosis and providing medical care to patients.
Belarusian methods of early diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis are included in WHO recommendations. In 2025, the incidence was 13.2 cases per 100,000 population. Treatment effectiveness indicators increased by 15%, and mortality decreased by 18.2%, amounting to less than one case per 100,000 population.
However, the problem of drug-resistant tuberculosis also exists: approximately 400 cases are detected annually.
At the same time, all medical services for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculosis remain free for citizens, with the state covering all costs — from examinations to complex surgeries and long courses of chemotherapy with modern drugs.
