Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's visit to Ukraine will take place "soon," her advisor on diplomatic issues, Dzianis Kuchynski, told "Pozirk."
Asked why the visit, which was widely expected to coincide with Freedom Day (March 25), had not yet taken place, the interlocutor noted that "there was no fixed date."
"The process of defining event calendars and visit dates is underway. Plus, this is Ukraine; we must announce [the visit] when it is safe. This visit will take place soon. It was not a postponement of the visit – the discussion of dates and format is ongoing," he said.
Speaking about which part of the future visit's agenda has already been agreed upon, Kuchynski replied that "one of the very important elements – the appointment of a special envoy to work with democratic Belarus, Belarusian democratic forces" – was discussed "during the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy" this January in Vilnius.
"I think that this will be one of the most important elements," the politician's advisor stated. "To have a person, a professional, who will work with Belarusian democratic forces, as well as our other foreign partners. Because such special representatives already exist in almost 20 countries."
"Currently, we are talking with our partners, our mission [in Ukraine] and its head Sviatlana Shatsilina are working, gathering maximum information from Belarusians in Ukraine. The main question we are preparing for this visit with, planning to arrive in Kyiv, is how we can help Ukraine more. Because the future of Belarus, and the future of Lithuania, Poland, and the entire region, depends in part on Ukraine. Therefore, it is a very big task, of course, to help Ukraine as much as possible. At every international meeting, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya emphasizes the importance of maximum support for Ukraine," the interlocutor stressed.
In an interview with "European Pravda," published on March 20, Tsikhanouskaya expressed hope that she would be able to celebrate Freedom Day in Ukraine – a national holiday for Belarusians that the regime does not welcome. Earlier, she assumed that the visit might take place in late February or early March.
