A book presentation was to be held in one of the Mahiliow's libraries.
Siarhiej Antonau, sci-fi author form Belarus, was to present his new book in one of the Mahiliou’s libraries on May 7. However, the meeting was cancelled by the library administration.
Siarhiej himself explains the refuse to hold the presentation by his being a member of BNF, a Belarusian opposition party. Mr. Antonau says that while in Moscow he has about three book presentations per year, he only managed to have a single meeting with the students of Mahiliou Pedagogic University in Belarus.
“My books are science fiction, they have nothing to do with politics,” remarked Siarhiej.
The library administration commented that meeting was cancelled because an overlap as a pensioners’ meeting was planned to be held on that very day. However, the possibility to hold the presentation on some other day was mentioned.
