The Statute Epopee: Deposit Paid, NBB Joins
Belarusians raise funds to return a national relic.
Good news came from Mahiliou: the deposit for the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was transferred to Moscow. Now Belarusians have to transfer the rest of the sum (which is $45k) within two month’s term. If it is done, Belarus will get its first copy of the original issue of the Statute.
The money for deposit was kindly provided by a private entrepreneur form Belarus.
A Belarus delegation has already visited Moscow and examined the Statute.
The Head of the Mahiliou State Museum reports of Br54mln (ca.$7,000) collected during fund-raiser organized by the museum.
As it was reported before, Belarus has a unique opportunity to buy one of the most prominent documents in country’s history: the Statute of Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

As it was reported, the National Bank of Belarus decided to support the campaign. However, the NBB is not going to give money, but it sent the official letter calling private banks to support the Mahiliou State Museum in their attempts to bring back the relic.
