Halloween is getting more and more popular in Belarus. Here are some great photos of the scary creatures you could encounter in Minsk on the Halloween night.
However, for some Halloween fans the celebration resulted into their arrests. On Oct. 31, 7 p.m. a small group of youth gathered inside of a central department store in Minsk. They deliberately stressed that the action was not politically colored. The participants simply planned to dress like mummies and have some fun.
However, as soon as the young people wrapped themselves into bandages and painted them with “bloody” stains, the police arrived. They detained four participants of the action (the policemen told them that they look similar to some criminals, which are currently being wanted). “Nasha Niva” correspondent Yaraslau Stseshyk was also arrested “for taking pictures without permission”.
“Nasha Niva” correspondent was soon released, but the arrested “mummies” had to spend the night in a police station. Policemen working there eyeballed the strange “monster criminals” in disbelief and amusement. “Last year we dressed like zombies, an nobody was arrested. This year we dressed like mummies – and everyone got arrested”, joked the Halloween fans. “Being zombie is less dangerous”.
Today the “mummy” case was supposed to be brought before the court. However, the court didn't take place, and the poor Halloween fans are still being kept under arrest.

Meanwhile, the Belarusian "beau monde" (local showbiz celebrities) also celebrated Halloween in one of Minsk night clubs. The police did not interfere.
