Belarusian Detained in Lithuania with a Fake Driver's License

The man was traveling from Lithuania home as a bus passenger. Now he faces criminal charges.

Lithuanian border guards at the "Medininkai" checkpoint detained a 40-year-old citizen of Belarus. The man was traveling on a Kaunas — Minsk shuttle bus.

During the document check, border guards additionally asked him to show his driver's license. The man stated that he did not have such a document. However, during a thorough search of his belongings, border guards found a license issued in his name.

It turned out that the document was a fake: all details were printed on a regular printer, and UV protection and microtext were merely imitated.

The Belarusian confessed that he bought the license for 300 euros after he was deprived of his right to drive a car for 5 years in his homeland.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated for the production and use of forged documents. The man is currently in a temporary detention center in Lithuania. He faces criminal liability according to Lithuanian law.
