During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of further cooperation between the two countries, including in trade, economic, investment, and cultural-social spheres.
According to initial plans, the Consulate General was supposed to open by January 1, 2026. Its opening and operation are funded by means provided in the republican budget for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Belarus and Kazakhstan have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, with embassies operating in the capitals of both states. Previously, until 2018, a branch of the Belarusian embassy already functioned in Almaty, but it was closed as part of the optimization of the Foreign Ministry's structure.
Almaty is the largest city in Kazakhstan and the country's former capital. More than two million people live here, making it an important political, economic, and cultural center of the state.
