The trial of ten people took place last October. They spread insults and false information about the First Lady on social media, for example, that the French president's wife is allegedly a transgender woman, reports Bfmtv.com
Eight defendants were sentenced to four to eight months of imprisonment with a suspended sentence. Six months of actual imprisonment were imposed on one of the defendants for absence from the court hearing.
Among those convicted, Aurélien Poirson received an 8-month suspended sentence, as well as mandatory participation in a course to increase respect for people on social media. His social media account was also suspended. Amandine Roy was sentenced to 6 months of imprisonment with a suspended sentence with the same additional measures.
