Babaryka shared what advice a simple person who stayed in Belarus gave him
Former banker, 2020 presidential candidate, and former political prisoner Viktar Babaryka described a recent conversation he had on Facebook.

"Recently I had a conversation with a very simple person who stayed in Belarus and outlined one of his pains. With his permission, I am publishing part of this conversation, preserving all the peculiarities of the statements:
HIM: Those who live here are different. And many are the same as they were. Despite everything.
ME: I disagree. We are all the same, but placed in different extreme conditions. Therefore, we are forced to act differently and yet keep common values in our souls:
— love and respect for ourselves and our loved ones;
— the desire to do what you like and what corresponds to your abilities and opportunities, and not just earn a living, even if it's with butter;
— to be together and surrounded by the warmth of friends and family and to help them, knowing that, if needed, they will also come to your aid.
HIM: Agreed! But, unfortunately, we look at the world through a different prism of sensations.
ME: But this should not change our system of values. The world can be cruel, but each of us is able to remain good and bright.
In one of his letters from prison, my son wrote: "Absolute darkness does not exist. There is only an absence of light." This means that even a small, short flash overcomes darkness. And I believe that each of us can be that spark. And I know that there are many such bearers of goodness and light among Belarusians.
HIM: Thank you! Rely on those who are here. Speak for those who cannot speak.
I don't know how important this is to you, but for me, this conversation and its ending are extremely precious," writes Babaryka.
