On the night of January 15-16, an abnormally low temperature was recorded at the Klichaw station in the Mahilioŭ region. The thermometer dropped to minus 27.8 degrees.

As reported by Belhydromet, the previous record was set back in 1987. At that time, the air temperature dropped to minus 26.9 degrees.
It would seem that the difference is only 0.9°C, but it clearly demonstrates the intensity of the current winter cold, explained Belhydromet.
Forecasters also clarified that such frosty weather will persist for at least the next five days. Belarusians should not expect precipitation during these days, but they should be prepared for Epiphany frosts.
