A prison simulation opened in the Minsk Palace of Children and Youth
An interactive platform "Safe Space," featuring a simulated prison cell, has been opened at the Minsk Palace of Children and Youth. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also participated in the opening ceremony, writes Telegraf.news.
The Minsk City Executive Committee's website explained that this was a way to establish "new, more effective forms of preventive work with youth." They assured that the new educational space would operate daily, and schoolchildren would participate in training sessions.
The new platform is designed to teach schoolchildren internet safety rules and inform them about the risks associated with drugs. A prison simulator was created there as a visual aid.
Kiryl Biarkozau, Head of the Drug Control and Anti-Human Trafficking Department of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, explained that this initiative aims to visually demonstrate to children the consequences of involvement in cyber and drug crimes.
In the part of the exhibition that simulates a prison, children are told the stories of a convicted 17-year-old girl and boy who received "long sentences" for selling drugs.
“In a live broadcast format, they recount how they were drawn into criminal activity, lost their freedom, and have since re-evaluated their lives while incarcerated,” explained Kiryl Biarkozau regarding the concept.
Schoolchildren are also invited to participate in a 3D simulation with VR glasses (virtual reality), where they are offered the choice to agree to drug use or try themselves as a drug courier.
“All scenarios end equally tragically,” warned the representative of the Minsk District Internal Affairs Department.
