In early February, the head of the "Russian House in Gomel", Alexander Marzhukhin, accused local authorities of an unconstructive attitude towards the organization's activities, but the essence of the conflict remained unknown. The publication "Flagstock" found out that the problem was the USSR flag.

As "Flagstock" found out, the "friction" between the city authorities and Marzhukhin arose due to the Soviet Union flag displayed on the "Russian House" building. This displeased officials, who probably wanted to control the use of this symbolism themselves. As a rule, Belarusian authorities use it only in the context of World War II.

As "Flagstock" reported, the USSR flag was displayed above the entrance to the "Russian House" building next to the Russian flag back in October 2025. This was an initiative of the "Historical Club" at the "Russian House", led by the odious propagandist of Stalinism and the "Russian world", Artem Sakovsky.
Officially, "Rossotrudnichestvo" explained the appearance of the flag as follows:
"An important event took place in our historical club: the USSR flag — the very one under which our grandfathers went into battle — now proudly flies over our building. It is a symbol of valor, resilience, and the Great Victory, which the whole city now sees. It will inspire us for new research, discussions, and deeds worthy of the memory of our heroes, reminding us every day of our great history."
But after the conflict with the city authorities, the flag of the Soviet Union was removed from the "Russian House" building.
