The Moscow District Court of Minsk considered a case that ended in significant financial losses for a former athlete of the national weightlifting team.
This is about Yahor Hrynko, a former national team member and athlete-instructor at the Republican Center for Olympic Training 'Stajki'. After a four-year disqualification for doping, he was dismissed, and the prosecutor's office appealed to the court demanding the return of money spent by the state on his training.
The basis for the claim was a clause in the employment contract, which stipulates the return of budget funds in case of anti-doping violations. According to calculations presented in court, more than 120 thousand rubles were spent on the athlete's training.
A portion of this amount — about 50 thousand rubles — the weightlifter voluntarily returned already at the pre-trial verification stage. The remaining 70 thousand were paid after the prosecutor's office appealed to the court, but before a decision was made. As a result, the court recorded that the main requirement was effectively fulfilled.
Additionally, the athlete had to pay a state duty of 3.5 thousand rubles.
