The FSB of Russia has detained Pavel Vasin, an officer of the Russian Armed Forces. He is suspected of assisting in the organization of an assassination attempt on GRU Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev. Pavel Vasin is the son of Viktor Vasin, who was also detained in the same case.

According to the investigation, Pavel Vasin gave a confession. He reported that he provided the perpetrator of the assassination attempt, Lyubomir Korba, with transport and technical means: a video recorder and a tracker for surveillance. The detainee also allegedly collected information about the places of residence and vehicles of Alekseev and two other Ministry of Defense employees.
Pavel Vasin graduated from the Military Academy. For five years, he served under contract as a communications specialist, had experience with foreign assignments, and after his dismissal, he worked in the security sector of commercial companies, according to «Vazhnyye Istorii».
The assassination attempt on GRU General Vladimir Alekseev took place on February 6. The general sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized. It was reported that he regained consciousness.
The perpetrator of the assassination attempt, Lyubomir Korba, and his assistant, Viktor Vasin, have been detained. Another suspect, Zinaida Serebritskaya, has been placed on an international wanted list.
According to the Russian law enforcement agencies, the individuals acted on the instructions of the SBU.
