According to Filipenko, on the morning of February 5, a search was conducted at his home in Minsk, after which it became known that a case had been initiated against him under Part 2 of Art. 361 of the Criminal Code — for allegedly calling for actions threatening national security. The reason given was an interview Filipenko gave to the YouTube channel "Obychnoye Utro" (Ordinary Morning).
"Before, I only had various books — now I have various criminal articles. Today a new search took place at home.
This time, the case was opened under Art. 361 Part 2. Suspect Filipenko Aliaksandr Aliaksandravich, repeatedly, using the internet, gave an interview titled 'Banned Books in Belarus: Why Sasha Filipenko's Novels Cannot Be Read, or How to Read Them Anyway?' on the channel 'Obychnoye Utro'...
You didn't confuse anything — under the new article, I face another 5-7 years for talking about my books. Previously, prizes and awards were printed on covers, now it can be — articles of the Criminal Code," Sasha Filipenko wrote.
The first criminal case against Filipenko became known in February 2024: at that time, security forces searched his father's home in Minsk and summoned him to the police. The writer himself reported that the case concerned Article 130 — "incitement of racial, national, religious, or other social hatred."
