Trump: We are going to destroy their missiles and level their missile industry to the ground

Trump published a statement regarding the US involvement in the attack on Iran on his social network Truth Social:

"The United States Armed Forces have begun large-scale military operations in Iran. Our goal is to protect the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very cruel, horrible people. Its threatening activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our foreign bases, and our allies around the world.

For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted 'Death to America' and waged an endless campaign of bloodshed and mass killings targeting the United States, our troops, and innocent people in many, many countries.

[…] In recent years, the regime's proxies have continued to carry out countless attacks on American forces deployed in the Middle East, as well as on US naval and commercial vessels and international shipping lanes. This has been mass terror, and we are no longer going to tolerate it.

Iran is the world's number one state sponsor of terror, and just recently killed tens of thousands of its own citizens in the streets when they protested.

The policy of the United States, and particularly my administration, has always been that this terrorist regime can never possess nuclear weapons. I will say it again: They can never have nuclear weapons. That is why, during Operation 'Northern Hammer' last June, we destroyed the regime's nuclear program in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. After that attack, we warned them never to resume their malicious pursuit of nuclear weapons, and we repeatedly tried to make a deal.

We tried. They wanted to do it. They didn't want to do it. Again – they wanted to do it. They didn't want to do it. They didn't know what was happening. They just wanted to do evil.

But Iran refused, just as it has for decades. They rejected every opportunity to abandon their nuclear ambitions, and we can no longer tolerate it. Instead, they tried to resume their nuclear program and continue developing long-range missiles that can now threaten our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops stationed abroad, and soon could reach American territory.

For these reasons, the United States Armed Forces are launching a massive and sustained operation to prevent this very evil, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our key national security interests.

We are going to destroy their missiles and level their missile industry to the ground. It will be completely destroyed. We are going to destroy their navy. We are going to make sure that terrorist proxies in the region can no longer destabilize the region or the world and attack our forces. And we will ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. This is a very simple message. They will never have nuclear weapons.

This regime will quickly learn that no one should challenge the strength and power of the United States Armed Forces. We are not doing this for the present time. We are doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission.

To the members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the armed forces, and the police, I say: you must lay down your arms and receive full immunity, or else face certain death. So lay down your arms. You will be treated fairly, with full immunity, or you will face certain death.

Finally, to the great, proud people of Iran, I say that the hour of your freedom is near. Stay in your shelters. Do not leave your homes. It is very dangerous outside. Bombs will fall everywhere. When we are finished, take control of your government. It will be yours. This will likely be your only chance in many generations," Trump wrote.
