A nightmare story at the Brest Theater: two spectators deeply regretted photographing a chandelier

Blogger alyonushkatut's story about a visit to the Brest Academic Drama Theater caused a stir on Threads. The girls, who were captivated by the interior and photographed the chandeliers on the ground floor, were publicly insulted by a group of women. For their interest in beautiful details, they were called "villagers who crawled out of a basement".

The blogger shared a story about an unpleasant encounter that happened at the Brest Drama Theater. The girls were admiring and photographing the beautiful theater chandelier, which provoked unexpected aggression from a group of women standing nearby.

My friend and I love to notice beautiful things, decorative details; we love to discuss and photograph them. So, we "got stuck" on the ground floor of the theater, admiring the chandeliers, noted their beauty, and decided to take a photo.

A group of adult women stood nearby, and they began to actively and very loudly (so we could hear) humiliate us. Apparently, if you look at chandeliers, you're just a villager who crawled out of a basement and saw a chandelier for the first time.

The question is: should we have responded to them? The aftertaste is strange. We responded politely that it was beautiful to us. To which we received laughter in our faces and condemnation. Is it normal the next day to rehearse a speech "HOW WE SHOULD HAVE TOLD THEM OFF"? Well, the theater is not the place for that, we decided. All the best, love, and don't be rats," the girl said.

The story sparked an active discussion. Most readers supported the girls. Commenters emphasized that interest in art and interior design is normal. Many advised not to waste energy on the women, as they were simply looking for an opportunity to vent their negativity. Here are some comments.

"You shouldn't respond to such people. It was an unconscious manifestation of fierce envy towards your youth, lightness, inner freedom, ability to see beauty and experience joy. Shackled by conventions, their own complexes, perhaps a difficult daily life, these women no longer truly enjoy anything. You should just step aside from them and continue to be happy."

"Let their evil stay with them. It stopped with you and didn't go further; you didn't waste your nerves quarreling with them. I hope these 'ladies' didn't spoil your impression of the theater, so isn't that a victory? Unfortunately, some people are simply incapable of seeing beauty; that's their problem, not yours."

"People specifically come to the Vienna Opera to see the decor. And here we have such aesthetes..."

"If you step in dog poop, you won't stomp on it—more will stick. It works the same way with bad people: the less you communicate, the less you get dirty."

"Smart girl. No need to feed them your energy."

"At the theater, especially ours, I personally always see a lot of 'provincials' (this is purely my opinion), who not only dress inappropriately but also manage to behave loudly and give unsolicited advice. So, knowing etiquette, I never stooped to their level to respond. Because if you hear them and respond, it means you're lowering yourself to the level where they can be heard. Be above it!"

"You should have just loudly told them to go to hell; after all, you're 'from the village' in their opinion, so it's acceptable to do so."

"Probably not necessary, but it's hard to resist. I would have loudly told my friends: 'No, what villagers do in the theater is understandable. But how these boors and market women got here is truly a question.'"

"It's like grandmothers in church who love to teach but don't even know the Creed themselves."

"Let such 'city folk' go to hell. It's too much pride to answer them. If they are cold-blooded reptiles in terms of beauty, that's not your problem. If they lack upbringing, that's also not your problem. There's no point in responding, they won't understand you and won't change."

Additionally, people sent hundreds of photos of their favorite chandeliers. Look at the beauty.
