"Minsk region traffic police officers, using firearms, detained a drunk driver without a license who had stolen a truck and was attempting to flee along the M-4 "Minsk — Mogilev" highway.
The incident began with a report to the police about a suspicious Iveco truck.
The truck driver did not react to the traffic police's signals to stop, began to increase speed and maneuver dangerously, creating a threat on the road.
The multi-ton vehicle was only stopped after inspectors used service weapons and a vehicle forced-stop system.
The driver turned out to be a 44-year-old resident of the Svetlogorsk district, who was in a state of severe alcoholic intoxication. An examination recorded 2.4 per mille of alcohol in his body.
As it turned out, the man had already been deprived of his driver's license for a similar violation.
Following the detention, six administrative protocols were drawn up against the offender, and he was placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigators also opened a criminal case against him for car theft.
