Belavia carried out its first flight to Almaty in almost four years. This became possible after the lifting of American sanctions
After a four-year hiatus, Belavia airline has resumed flights from Minsk to Almaty. The first flight departed on December 18. Previously, planes flew to this largest city in Kazakhstan since 2015 and were in demand, but in 2022 flights were suspended, writes Office Life.

As explained by Vladimir Barkun, Deputy General Director of Belavia for Marketing, the company received permission from the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan to operate flights. The route immediately attracted interest from both passengers and tour operators.
Flights from Minsk will operate on Mondays and Thursdays, back from Almaty — on Tuesdays and Fridays. Flight time is about five hours. The cost of a one-way ticket starts at approximately 540 rubles, round trip — from 1045 rubles.
The first flight turned out to be well-loaded: 100 economy-class seats and one business-class seat were sold from Minsk, and 80 and 24 seats respectively in the opposite direction. According to Barkun, this route is convenient not only for direct flights but also for connections to other flights, for example, from Almaty to St. Petersburg or Kaliningrad, or from Minsk to Bishkek.
Belavia did not suspend flights to the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, at all. As explained by Olga Shapkova, a representative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, resuming flights to Almaty became possible after the lifting of US sanctions against the Belarusian airline. Embraer aircraft flew to Astana, as it is closer, while flights to Almaty are operated on Boeing.
Earlier, Belavia also did not rule out that direct flights from Minsk to the USA might appear in the future.
