In One Owner's Hands Since 2014
The E12 "five" is the first generation of the BMW 5-series. The model was produced from 1972 to 1981. The car, which is for sale in Minsk, was manufactured in 1979, meaning it's already a restyled version.
Under the hood of this 525, there's a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 150 hp, which was quite a lot for the late 1970s. It is paired with an automatic transmission.

They are asking $25,200 for the car. Outwardly, it looks very decent, but the description in the ad is missing. However, learning about the history of this car is not difficult, as the seller actively maintained a logbook on the drive2.ru website.

The current owner has had this car since summer 2014. And from the first publications, it becomes clear that this is not a time capsule, but an ordinary old BMW, which a Belarusian enthusiast meticulously restored with his own hands. And he spent more than one year on it.

"At first glance, the car was well-maintained and sufficiently complete, but after disassembly, it turned out that there would be a lot to work on," — these were the owner's first impressions of the purchased car.

To restore the car, it was disassembled down to the last screw.

A Project Lasting 10+ Years
From the logbook, it's not exactly clear how many years of continuous work went into the restoration, but it is known that more than 10 years passed from the beginning to its first outing.
Two years after the purchase, in summer 2016, the body was already painted, but completely bare.

Only in February 2025, another report appeared in the car's logbook, which spoke about the completion of the engine assembly and awaiting the warm season to drive the retro BMW.
Already in April 2025, the owner reported that the car had driven its first 500 kilometers, and by last summer, the car had participated in a retro exhibition for the first time.
