In Gomel Region, Traffic Police Stopped Drunk Unlicensed Driver With Shooting
Near the village of Karotkavichy, Zhlobin district, a night chase ended with shots. The driver ignored the Traffic Police's demand to stop and tried to escape.
Police officers decided to shoot at the wheels to forcibly stop the car.
After the car stopped, the driver and his passenger jumped out of the vehicle and tried to escape, but were apprehended.
The driver turned out to be a 32-year-old resident of Kalinkavichy, who had previously been deprived of his license, including for drunk driving. This time the man again showed signs of intoxication, but refused an official medical examination.
Seven administrative reports have been filed; the issue of a criminal case for repeated drunk driving within a year and confiscation of the vehicle is being decided. The driver and his 25-year-old passenger have been placed in a temporary detention facility. The car was placed in a guarded parking lot.
