An "Orlan-10" type drone fell in Kocaeli province, near Istanbul, according to the Turkish Interior Ministry.
"An unmanned aerial vehicle, presumably of Russian production, of the 'Orlan-10' type, used for reconnaissance and surveillance, was found," the ministry's statement said.
The Interior Ministry is investigating the circumstances of the incident.
As a local resident told Hurriyet newspaper, the drone fell on Wednesday, but he did not report it immediately, thinking the drone had an owner.
This is the second report of a drone crashing on Turkish territory this week. On December 15, the country's Ministry of Defense announced that Turkish military shot down a "drone that went out of control" over the Black Sea.
According to open sources, "Orlan-10" drones have a flight range of up to 600 kilometers and a flight duration of up to 16 hours, and can carry a payload of up to five kilograms, writes Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty's Russian Service.
The Russian side has not commented on reports of drones falling in Turkey.
